Due to the effects of slavery and Jim Crow, there’s been a wall build around the black community that I like to call the black defense wall. The enormous amounts of unfair ridicule, harassment, criticism, prejudice and racism that we faced during slavery and Jim Crow has caused us to be very sensitive to criticism. So much so that it is nearly impossible for white people to have a fair critique of black people without being labeled a racist or bigot. Primarily because they are white and they have the skin color of the oppressor. On the other hand, most white people who do have criticisms of black people are bigot/prejudice/racist trash so we are able to dismiss them easily.
The bigger problem is when black people try to give justified criticism regarding black issues not out of malice like many white people, but out of love for their people and the willingness to see us improve. These type of black people are shunned and accused of being c00ns, oreos or not a real black person. We are very defensive people due to the generations of white supremacy that caused us to fight back and be on the defensive from mental and physical attack. This is a psychological issue for us that has been passed down generation to generation.
The black defense wall keeps us from progressing. The inability to tear down this wall means we are not able to travel to the location of the table where we can sit down, love and discuss justified criticisms and concerns that can help us improve as a race. Instead, it causes more in fighting, more false accusations and unfair character assassinations.
