Credit Gurus, my credit was in the gutter and I’ve been working on it like crazy and it’s finally picking up.

A month ago I was at 459 :snoop:

This morning these were my scores:
Transunion 665
Equifax 639
Experian 557

I am not interested in a bank credit card yet; so far I’m working with secured credit card and I’m happy with them until I’m confident enough to request for unsecured credit card.

........but I would like to apply for Nordstrom Store Card. They do a soft pull on credit history and it requires 640+ to qualify (According to Google).

What are the chances I can get approved for a store card even though my experian score is below 640.

How did ur score jump so high in one month?

1. I spoke with my folks. Both of them have stellar credit score. 820+
They put me as an authorized user in their credit cards
2. I opened two primaries; self and grain
3. I negotiated and paid all my debt.
4. Lastly, got two secured credit cards. One from my bank and one from capital one

If you know the standard, wait until you're sure you're over it. Why take chances?

Take your time and build your credit organically.. Get you a credit card and a small car note with your other living expenses.. Never let that credit card get over 50% of its total available limit, pay your car note and living expenses as usual, on time.. By the time your car is paid off, and you've managed your other bills, your credit score will be in the 700s.. And you'll have a verifiable credit history to go along with it..

Hopefully you've moved up in income during that journey, then you'll be ready for the next big move.. Hopefully this will happen for you in your early 30, late 20s..

Also, Experience has this thing called Boost. It's a program where you link your CC, and if you pay utility bills on the card, it adds them to your credit score, so, if you pay your bulls on time, you basically get free credit score points for shyt you have to do anyway.

Dont open that store card breh

Also, dont forget how important credit mix is. For years, i only had credit cards and paid them on time with a utilization rate under 30%. My score stayed around the 720-730 mark.

Once I got my first car note and a low interest loan through my credit union, my score jumped to 803

Have you ever heard of something called “Life happens” :gucci:

did you set aside a decent amount of savings? Did you lease a car? Did you live above your means? Do better next time…
