Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
There's a difference between watching highlights and actually witnessing full games where you get the FEEL for a player. I remember watching Jordan cuz i was living in chicago and always had the bulls games on so i can actually testify as to how GREAT he was cuz i got a feel for it, not just the highlights where all you see are the great things a player does without the flaws. I've seen jordan miss game winning shots, seen jordan get the ball stolen from Nick anderson, i've witnessed when jordan missed the game winning 3 after reggie hit the 3 with a bruised ankle in the 98 playoffs. I got a FEEL for all of MJ so as to i can tell you every little thing about him and what made him special. I didn't get that with Rice cuz all i saw was his games starting in 96 and on, but by then it's kind of like when kids of today saw jordan play on the wizards. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't the GREATNESS that older heads were used to.

You can't compare that with music... well even then, there's a certain feeling you do get when you listen to something in it's time period than when you listen to it in a modern time. You can't expect a kid to feel the impact of Ready to die, only built for cuban linx because it was something special when it came out during its time. Granted some albums might have that timeless feel, but for the most part, if you weren't THERE when it happened, chances are you won't get the same FEEL once its presented and introduced to you years later.
I can agree with that. You won't get the full picture or feeling. But you get more than nothing. Then you add on with what people who did see it say. Then stats. Then go from there

Again not saying you did. But others who would also agree they never watched him are quick to dismiss the words of those who did

And the other black qb was culpepper. Another non HOF qb. But remember moss isn't known for his immaculate route running. This is the man who said he took plays off on purpose. Even when on the Vikings in his prime. They was just lobbing bombs and he'd catch them

They were definitely two different types. I do think Julio is a mix of both. He will kill you on routes and you'll still find him open. Then you cover the fukk out of him and he gonna catch it anyway.

Jerry was just on another level with his work ethic and routes. He's 40 with rich gannon as a qb and still putting up #1 receiver, all pro numbers. They was no plays off and he was always open

gtfoh, he was on the downside of his career, his best ish was in the 80s. i wasn't into football as much as i was into basketball during that time. The bears were sucking around that time so i wasn't really watching football as much as i do now. 98,99 was when i was a big nfl fan cuz that's when i turned 13,14. I'm asking a legit question, 90 percent of this board ain't see jerry play in his prime. Hell, you guys give LEBRON d*ckriders passes for saying hes better than jordan, s*ck my dikk with that sh8t :what:

You're a child, please stop.

1995 - 1848 yards 15 tds
1996 - 1254 yards 8 tds
1997 - injured in 2nd game
1998 - 1157 yards 9 tds
1999 - 830 yards 5 tds - emergence of TO in SF as WR1
2000 - 805 yards 7 tds - emergence of TO in SF as WR1
2001 - 1139 yards 9tds
2002 - 1211 yards 7 tds

He was still a great WR in these years

The early 90's were his best years, but if you started in 95 you should have a good enough idea of how good JR was

they're are all routine catches and plus everyone be saying he uses stickum. The way i see it, i got to see Randy Moss play and made me jump out of my seat for the plays he made, jerry won the bowls but Randy was a once in a lifetime player.

The gloves these dudes use today is the same shyt as Stickum.

Trust me, these young guys don't have hands 100x better than earlier generations, today's gloves are basically legal stickum to further improve the offense (like every other rule made in the NFL in the last 15 years)

You can watch YouTube videos all you want but you can still lack the context to understand how to compare older players to players of today without having accounts from people who have seen both. This is a valid question that can be analyzed.

Thank you! Everyone thinks that just cuz there's youtube that you can automatically understand or have that FEELING of the impact. Clearly julio jones is one of the top receivers of today's era and since dude was making everyone jumping out of his seats and biggin him up on this board, i wanted to know if Rice ever gave people that same enthusiasm (:ooh::whew::ohhh:) that people get from Jones, Beckham, Antonio brown. Being a kid in 95 and T.O. emerging wouldn't give you the full picture, sh*t i remember when T.O. caught that one pass from young against green bay and at that point i thought he was THE MAN over Rice :mjlol: cuz he was making more plays than Rice at that point. :wow:
