I seldom agree with this dude here but jokes and fandom aside this is the answer, read all types of books too from fiction to non-fiction, fact books etc, take it into real life conversation and practice using the new words you pick up naturally, it's always obvious when someone is using a word they just discovered only to end up sounding like an idiot.

Go on this site I found great synonyms for "angry" on the new Thesaurus.com! and type in a word.
then POOF! you will get words that mean THAT word which are anywhere from 2 to however number long,
you need a thesaurus.
thats a good FIRST book,

I like to read books on my iPad or kindle and when I don't know a word I look it up. Sometimes if I like it or feel like I could use it in my everyday speaking, I'll write 2-3 down and purposely use them for the rest of the month. It may not seem like a lot but 25-30 new words every year used regularly can do wonders.

any book. The way to have a true vocabulary is to have a broad knowledge base. Being able to speak coherently on a wide array of topics will give you a vocab. It'll give you words and also how to use them correctly so you dont sound like naS speakin gibberish with a poor command of the language.

Get books on religion, sociology, architecture, romance, mysteries, it dont matter b.

I just read lots of articles and when there's a word I don't know I look it up and remember it. Over a period of time my vocabulary expanded . I hardly use bigger words tho because people start giving me the because they didn't know what I said

I learned a lot of big words from watching tv, lectures on youtube, and podcast. I was posting what worked for me.
