This is one of those discussions that always gets overblown cause the "purists" say it's gotta be off the top but the actual legends (like Kane) say that it's a verse with no set topic or length.

Cause that's one thing and writing is a different thing
So if all freestyles are actually written rhymes "with no topic" AKA 85% of raps ever written...
Then why is there this whole entirely different more impressive way of rhyming - off the top of the dome - that just has no name at all

Anybody debating whether a freestyle is off the top of the head prolly can't freestyle and is making an excuse for themselves.
So whatever you call it, you ain't a real MC if you can't do it. How bout that?
