Lebron has been stopped before. :stopitslime:

Kawhi shut his ass all the way down. :camby:

Boris Diaw shut his ass all the way down. :camby:

Point me in the direction of a person who could guard prime shaq. :damn:

nikka used to back centers down like babies in the post. :camby:

Bron was out of his prime by then in terms of athleticism....

As much as I love Kobe, Tayshun Prince made life very difficult for him.

Prime Shaq played in an era where you couldn't zone up and overload the strong side. Could you imagine Lebron with old illegal defense rules?

The way I see it if I was on board to start a franchise with LeBron and Shaq there, the choice is easy: Shaq.

When it's my turn to pick up a SF I can go with Pippen in the 2nd round and not be too much of a drop-off.

There's a significant drop-off from Shaq, Hakeem, Kareem and Duncan though.

Can't really compare one of the greatest of all-time at arguably the most vital position in basketball to a great wing player. You pass up drafting a franchise center and you'll look back at it like :sadcam:.

If you're talking about peak dominance at their position, it's a toss-up. Add MJ to those two and you easily have the three most dominant players I've seen in my lifetime (started watching bball in the mid/late 1980s).

But Lebron wins just because he affects the game in more ways than Shaq did. Shaq could bang inside and protect the rim. But he didn't bring the ball up for you, he was a liability at the free throw line, he couldn't hit a three when you needed one to win the game, and he didn't distribute the ball around to get the offense rolling. He was a 5, and only a 5, even if he was the best one in the last 30 years.

Lebron, on the other hand, can do whatever you need to win. You can be missing your point guard, your shooting guard, your small forward, your power forward...Lebron even wins championships on teams that don't have a center. He can't do everything at once - one player can never win a championship - but he's up there with Magic for being able to do multiple things well better than anyone.

you cant really "contain" lebron this year. contain in a sense where he has no ability to pull out a win for you or limit a low scoring game to his standards. Your best hope is a 25-30 pt game with just a bad shooting %, but even then he'll contribute double digit assists and/or rebounds which might make up for it. Jimmy Butler did what he could and this hawks series was a cake walk on both ends :snoop: lebron athleticism looks like some marvel superhuman type shyt.

Shaq on the other hand, there is NO boxing him out, NO chance to muscle out rebounds, NO hope on a single coverage and will give you 30-40 pts post season and test tube figures on rebounds even with his stigma of a retarded FT shooting which goes to show even with a something holding you back you can still dominate your position:blessed:
