They got to tighten up and the people have to be fed up. No matter how many outside forces come in trying to help it’s up to the Somali people.

The problem is the dudes that officially run the country care more about consolidating control over the country side than securing as much of the country as it can control.

Someone saw the bomb being prepared they could drop a dime if they cared.

Somaliland in the North is safe, Puntland in the middle is secure. Kismayo which is a major port is secure, The strip south of it is wild as hell. Mog would be safe if they cleared out the area around it. Somaliland and Puntland is beefing with the federal government and wants to break away so they don't help much.

If the only education and reading the populace do is Islamic teachings then they don't stand a chance anywhere, no matter how rich or poor or corrupt the Govt is. A toxic diet of non stop religion beaten into everyone's heads can never end well.

They don’t do much but when they do the get their point across.

We should just support the break away. Because at the end of the day it’s not the federal govt per day keeping these places safe it’s the people of Puntland and Somaliland with funds from America helping out a lot.

That's neocon talk. The people aren't educated because there isn't enough money to do so. The problem is it's a fight for power. If you want to blame Islam you could say because the religion started in a desert region (not the fertile cresent but in the literal desert wasteland) that it co-signs a fight for resources, but that's someone justifying fukking their neighbor not a religion per se.

If Somalia wasn't at war, There was a drought at the beginning of the year, floods in the middle and Locusts are eating the grass that grew because of the floods. They're fukked either way. The only way out is trade and fishing.

It started with outside interference. First the Russians, Yemeni and Ethiopians to set the stage for destabilization (Ogaden War). Now Gulf Arabs and Saudis are funding the group responsible for this (Al-Shabaab), and are keeping Somalia destabilized.

All that being said there's no excuse for murdering your own like this. Al-Shabaab is disgusting and a blight on the Somali people. But it's more complex than religion (not that it's helping), I say that as a former Muslim myself. Add corruption into the mix, with lack of education. Also people's livelihoods being tampered with (illegal fishing, and dumping in their waters) and the cycle continues.

Radicalism feeds off of ignorance. I hope Somalia becomes stable soon. It's a beautiful country with resources, and a strong-willed people.
