face it, the weeknd will never get back to this level of music making

ruined by cacs :hula:signed to OVO, sitting on the shelf, giving his best material to Drake

I love the 3 songs you posted, but those are just House of Balloons tracks. Did you like the rest of Trilogy?

Why do people keep running with this false narrative?

breh he's bigger than drake. i agree with beyonce and rihanna.

idk about kanye either. dude been floppin for a while.

he still has the potential. i don't blame him for not boxing himself in. the audience for his old stuff isn't that big.

:mjlol: No hes not

nikka i don't even fukk with Drake....and he's way bigger than Weeknd:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

you think more people in this world know Weeknd than Drake and Kanye? Cmon breh. Ye might've "flopped" but his tours are still top billing

Weeknd is cool but he aint gonna be no biggest pop star in the world. He can't dance, he isn't MJ. bytches aint gonna be feeling his hair for 5 years straight, nikkas arent gonna copy his hairstyle for 5 years straight. He is gonna have to reinvent his style after he's already reinvented his music. But we'll see. He better link up with some real nikka producers instead of this Max Martin gay shyt.

i ain't gonna argue with yall, but the weeknd is new to a lot of white people. i guarantee the majority of the mainstream didn't know about him until that 50 shades of grey song. trust me he'll go down as more popular than drake. possibly kanye too.

idk about beyonce or rihanna though

do yourself a favor and don't hit the reply button if you don't know what you're talkin about...

The Weeknd had a few Top 10 joints, but he ain't bigger than none of them artist listed, by far...watch how the internet explodes tomorrow when Ye drops and tell me The Weeknd has that type of command...watch what happens when Drake drops (Drake sold 600,000+ internet only with his last surprise drop album, Weeknd sold 300,000 with promotion and a #1 single)...

Weeknd was selling out arenas before BBTM, so his audience ain't the issue...he makes good to great music, but he doesn't command attention like those true pop stars do...doubt he ever will, but I ain't hoping for it...

you comparing him to more established artists. he's young in the game. he has the potential to be bigger than ye and drake is all im saying. so i see why he doesn't make his old music that was about treating women like shyt and drugs. you ain't selling no records with that kind of music in 2016.

i guess i should have specified male pop star.

More cac mothers enjoy the weeknd for themselves and their teen daughters than drake. And the weeknd's next album is going to sell way more. This was his first mainstream album and it was huge.

The weeknd cranked out top 3 hits last year all featuring just hisself. You can't knock that he's a heavy weight now.

And as far as his music goes I feel like he was more musically exciting prior to BBTM. His harmonies were better he sang better sonically all around he sounded better. I don't like the way his music is mixed now it just comes off as so boring.

Listen to kissland and then listen to BBTM and hear how different it is.

True enough, a lot of folks didn't know of hum till 50SOG and "Earned It". His OG sound won't be replicated but it shows on certain tracks. He practically birthed that atmospheric sound that da rest of them Toronto nikkas on now. He'll be on some EDM shyt next tho'. I can't fukks with a whole lotta his new shyt.

Saying he isn't bigger than drake may not be true. I take it you all forgot how Earned It was literally played everywhere for almost 2 years. 50 shades opened him up to a worldwide fan base. Can't feel my face was out maybe two weeks then it was 1 on billboard and Tom freaking cruise declared it song of the summer on Fallon which is a larger audience. I think they're on the same level right now. If he keeps cranking out pop hits it will only get larger.

he can but he won't, he's signed to a major now and thus a mainstream artist so the music must follow the formula of an upbeat tempo and light atmosphere, not to mention to let the chorus every 30 seconds because you need something catchy to catch the attention of the average listener so actual song writing is non existent. In other words, he has to throw away every thing that made his music great
