Why would anyone invest with a guy that's like "I'm not in it to make money" lol...
thats just to not appear to be some corporate a$$hole.

Facebook is failing because its facebook, it really offers nothing else short of entertainment for the masses.

I still question who really thought this was a good idea. I said it before and I will say it again, Facebook's greatest asset is that people think its "cool". Once it loses its "cool" factor and people start migrating somewhere else that stock is going to be the laughing stock of the country. Besides connecting and entertainment what does facebook offer to the majority? Nothing, its not essential to everyday life - unless you have a serious addiction problem. Hell, once I stopped dorming I barely used facebook to be honest.

nothing, NOTHING created on the internet lasts forever...the only one that has lasted this long on top has been google mainly due to smart moves by getting into the smartphone business and other ventures. If they stayed as a primary search engine they would have been cooked by someone else.

Lycos lost it
AOL lost it
Yahoo lost it
Friendster lost it
MySpace lost it

Facebook WILL lose it unless there is a drastic change which I don't see happening. It might take a bit longer than I previously anticipated, but it WILL happen.

Google,Wikipedia,Youtube and Yahoo wll always be around. Facebook was a fad.
I mentioned Google...they make money with Android...they are in essential markets in our lives...cellphones. They own YouTube.

Wikipedia - Knowledge/News, this will never die out simply due to the fact that even college professors are finally starting to allow students to start grabbing content from there for their papers.

YouTube - might be the way people watch content in a couple of years...they really need to try to compete with netflix and offer streaming plans.

Yahoo will die eventually, email is what has them still somewhat relevant.

There are, I agree, but imagine the hassle of moving your whole life from FB to somewhere else - are all of those millions of people gonna bother?

I think society is kinda locked into Facebook now.

Having said that, it was massively overvalued. Just depends on how much advertising can become more and more targeted, and therefore more and more lucrative.

See the thing with social networks is when a better one pops up people just migrate to a quote a piece of liquids post:

Lycos lost it
AOL lost it
Yahoo lost it
Friendster lost it
MySpace lost it

I remember all of those sites and more, remember Hi5? bolt?, Bebo?, Flickr? Tagged? Blackplanet?

They all fall off or just disappear all together, I can't see Facebook disappearing but eventually it will also start to see reduced traffic, and something "new" will take it's place.

Never underestimate the ability to find free time just look at The Coli for instance?

Look how quickly everybody integrated themselves.

google's revenue is still 99% advertising through its search engine. They are still the primary search engine and it is still the biggest part of their business. The reason why facebook is failing is because big advertisers that support facebook are pulling their money away, like GM pulled away 25 million. Facebook does not work for big brands that want to advertise online .

The first three will be around for a while longer. Yahoo is a half dead chimera that over expanded way too fast in the era right before Web 2.0. Their fall hasn't accelerated yet, but when Yahoo finally does fall..

I honestly think the only reason why Facebook went to IPO is because the early investors and Zuck finally wanted to cash in on the opportunity afforded to them. I wouldn't have bought the stock myself just because what exactly are you supposed to do with it?

Investors are actually expecting good financials now from internet startups. FB doesn't have a revenue model to match their market share
