Basics. I travel to Chicago and I live in Northwest Indiana. It costs too damn much to live in Illinois. I pay $723 a month for a house that is over 1800 sq. ft. but I do well for myself working in the city. We were just told today that us in finance, we are the trial balloon for the WFH experiment for the company. I might be home at least until whatever form of school starts back up. No clue as of now.

I’d like to imagine that even if pay is localized, people should still be able to come up depending on where they locate.

Take that $200K SF salary and locate to Houston. Even if FB docks like 30% for COL, $140K in Houston is still very good money.

I’d like to take a peek at that their localized salary factors or indexes.

Because rajesh has the skills you want. The reality is the base pays are all pretty much set for work levels because they are already a multinational company with remote sites.

So what they do, if they do it, is make a cost of living adjustment for the more expensive places.
