He's signed to Pharrell. Someone being signed before you heard of them doesn't make them a "plant" if that's the case Wu Tang, Biggie, Nas & Snoop are label plants and we all know this isn't true.

Label plants are artist that pretend to be independent all while being signed/funded by a major label.

Drake, Asap Rocky & Trinidad James were all alleged label plants
