He been going in on Townsend for thr last couple years

The way I originally heard him tell the story was that Townsend hadn't worked in years and when Cosby was getting ready to do a new project, he called washed up Townsend to give the opportunity to him cause he considered him a friend

Then when the false allegations started, Townsend apparently knew they weren't true and admitted it to Faizon but when Faizon told him he needed to speak up, Townsend refused saying he didn't wanna get blackballed
