I feel he pretty much touched on this. That was one of the reasons he quit the show, they were just laughing at him and not "seeing the forest for the trees".

On the real you have to listen to some of Pryors material when he was younger. It was much darker in comedy.
Also with richard his/and Mooney jokes have been done by everyone and perfected. So that is some times why it doesnt go over as well over the years.

Dave Chappelle was well known about amongst blacks before Chappelle show.me and my friends (all black) were hyped as fukk to go see Half Baked in 98' cause Chappelle was in it been fukking with him since "Men in Tights" used to come on Cable and then the Comedy Specials real black comedy heads been fukking with Dave for at least 20/25 years

I agree. When people talk about black celebs risking their wealth to stand up against whites...this is what it looked like. They made Chappelle out to be "crazy" if yall remember how people talked about him. He could have easily went into full blown c00ning and just doing caricature comedy like the Lil Jon skits. He knew they wasn't fukking with the social commentary smarter type shyt, they wanted him to just buck dance. Then he was portrayed as mentally ill when he walked away.
Actually I enjoy Dave's and Rock's material. They are an extension of dikk Gregory, Paul Mooney and Pryor as comedians. They intertwine social issues with their comedy.
They aren't afraid to touch any subject from a comedy stand point.
Think about it is any mainstream comic going where Dave went with the tranny and race jokes?
No one is touching that and no one can touch that subject and make you laugh from a mainstream comedian stand point.
