:mjlol: people with diabetes, obesity, and hypertension are more likely to fall asleep with the TV on after downing half a bucket of KFC by themselves and catching the itis
Exactly! The article mentions nothing about the study controlling for diet talking bout the damn the ambient light is giving people diabetes. Nah, your nightly ritual of downing a bowl or two of ice cream before passing out in front of the TV is what’s giving you diabetes.

The first half of it just seems to suggest that people who are already at higher risk of those conditions tend to have a lifestyle or habits that leads them to sleeping with the TV on etc. It just doesn’t make any logical sense that sleeping with a TV on increases risk of diabetes. Much more sensible that folks who regularly do that just don’t prioritize getting a full nights rest and are more likely to have other unhealthy habits

The other part about staying awake longer definitely seems sensible though

correlation isn't causation :francis:

Exactly. Maybe people who watch a lot of TV live sedentary lifestyles and eat like shyt :manny:

Ambient light affecting sleep quality is one thing but to say it could cause early death by linking it to obesity and hypertension is why you can't trust nothing spewed on the news as fact anymore.

Correlation = / = causation and yet these studies keep getting misused with clickbait titles knowing good and well the average American doesn't know the difference nor possess the critical thinking skills to assess properly :martin:
