I wasn't really aware about the females jocking him aspect, but he presented as a young, well adjusted, reasonably attractive guy with a level head on his shoulders. So I can see why.

The biggest thing for me is that he seemed like a positive contributor that was more invested in bringing people together than being in the fukkery though.

Thing is he pandered far too much. It was an easy red flag but people want to see what they want to see, no matter what reality tells them.
