Beautiful corner of NYC.
I suggest it as a vacation spot to everyone I know.
It really is the ideal jump off point to anywhere in NYC.
You can have that as your base of operations without
dealing with all of the hassles of being in a densely populated
area. get an air b&b in the Rockaways, walk to the beach, take
the ferry to Manhattan, BK or the BX...

you can walk or bike from the Rockaways to the Far Rockaways.
i stay in the R and walk/bike/drive to the FR for grub and booze. shyt is amazing.
wake up at 6am, 2 minute walk to the boardwalk, puff some herb
and watch whales jump out of the water. pay $2.75 for a ferry to
Wall st. and chill in lower Manhattan where you can easily walk
across the Brooklyn Bridge into the BK Bridge park.

people really don't know what NYC has to offer, even
people who live there. i grew up in the Bx and didn't
realize that every part of NYC is a made up of islands
except the Bx. i grew up there seeing the ocean and
rivers my whole childhood and never put it together
until my girl brought it to my attention in my early 30's.

that's why i go there.
i branch out a little more into the Far Rock every time i go back but
time on the beach, chilling in the bungalow,the ease of access into
Bk and Manhattan often take up more of my time when i'm there.
however on my last couple of trips i have enjoyed exploring further
east of the peninsula into Far Rock.
