Productivity has gone up because of technology, which also means we need less humans to do the job. Pay wise I agree, looking back ... inflation and cost of living damn sure escalated more than $5.25 - $7.25 from 1996 --- > 2013. But it aint at $15 yet. I'd say $10.00 maybe $11.00

BUT on the same token all of us out here making $XX should get a $3 raise also???? Cuz if the min wage jumps up, everything costs more and we still making $XX

Chain restaurants = Sit down restaurants... All of them are franchised unless you go to a local spot in your area, which would be high end.

that's what I'm sayin. I dont ever see anyone saying how as a regular cat, I deserve a raise just cuz. If I want a raise, I either gotta earn one or find a new job. of course this could apply to fast food workers. not saying u gon get rick makin fries, but u could aspire to get a better job. working at costco would pay more and get u good benefits given you have a limited education. why society always wanna help the cats on the two extremes of the economic scale but give the finger to the rest of us in the middle that represent the majority of the population???

Min Wage is for jobs that require no skill and people who don't create better options for themselfs.

I don't fukking get this shyt, when I was 18 best buy was paying nikkas $9- $10. That was years ago. If you making 7.50 X he chances are you haven't even tried to get something better

Yap I read a couple weeks back Obama was set on raising the minium wage to atleast 9 dollars I think. I'm thinking to myself thats gotta suck for a guy on the assembly line for 10 an hour maybe getting a 2 dollar raise after 5 years. If they plan on raising minimum wage then all earnings should see an increase.

Simple. As I explained, wages and wealth for labor are a fraction of the increase in productivity in the last 30 years. In a reasonable economic distribution, both should rise in unison, or at least be relatively close to each other. Ownership has found a way to divorce labor from their earnings, so that the latter can reap all the rewards, while labor works harder and harder.

Ownership has been able to accomplish that by de-centralizing unions (people who argue on behalf of the worker so that wages increase with corporate earnings, inflation, and overall gdp). The 1% has been able to infect the work force with this overall sense of self-loathing --- essentially, we should just be happy to take whatever ownership gives us, and just shut up and dont make a sound because somehow in the last couple of decades 80% of the country became really stupid and lazy all of a sudden, while the top percent all became really, smart.

If you have the time, please watch this 6 min video. It illustrates what Im trying to say.

That's the point, why you tryna survive off 7.25 in NYC? You either need to prepare yourself to command a higher salary or you need to leave NY.

For a HS kid makin $200 a week working part time is straight. If you an adult with real responsibility and people depending on you and you think McDonald's owes you a "living wage" to do the same shyt a 15 year old does then you fukked up.

If all the poor people were priced out of New York.....who's going to flip burgers, who's going to do low level security at Macy's, who's going to be a janitor, who's going be the cashier at Duane Reade, who's going to stock shelves at Target. "Ugh high school kids :troll:" So high school kids work from 6am-2pm during school days now? :deadrose:

A city full of consultants, investment bankers, accountants and lawyers......and nobody to scrub down the streets or make coffee. Sounds smart :leon:

In order for this thing of ours to work, somebody has to do these jobs. That's the point you're not getting.

what does entitlement have to do with anything? Why are you entitled to your salary? Why are you not entitled to more or less? Who decides these things? IS ownership God, and they can determine our lives and living conditions? As long as there is a need for employees, workers can be entitled to 1 million dollars a second, if they can successfully negotiate it. Management and ownership make sure to get theirs. Its high time the common man fights back.

:what:

breh, do you even have a job?

you kicking all this labor reform shyt.... do you even have a job where you can slide your card in that Kronos machine and bring home a paycheck, to even pop all this shyt?

your black ass wouldn't dare tell your management that you're not showing up to work until they give you a 200% increase in pay.....cause you know you won't have a job to go back to.

It's like you're stuck in the world of theory, and said fukk reality:heh:

How do people get so blinded as to cape for corporate america?!?! People have been somehow convinced that corporate GREED is a naturally inherent part of capitalism to the point that not only do they suck it up and accept it but that they also go out there and champion the shyt?!?! fukking LUDICROUS!!:mindblown:

No wonder the rich get richer. Yall dumb nikkas disappoint me. :snoop::pacspit:

Yup these hard headed nikkas are sickening. The wealthy steal trillions of dollars and people think that they can ball like them one day.

Yeah but people need to realize that those jobs CAN'T be the only or long term source of income used to support your family. Supplement income, sure but not the end all be all. They are shyt jobs that come with shyt wages that someone has to do and right now that someone may be you but if that someone is still you 10 years down the road, then you fukked up somewhere. Your plan should not to be a cashier at Duane Reed until retirement.

Tdot.. till the death of me

What type of fast food joint are you gonna run, where you start paying people $15... and think you're gonna still reap the same profits without doing anything to compensate breh?

you either gonna have to raise prices, cut hours/positions, or use lower quality materials... or all three. there isn't a way around it.

or let the highrollers take a pay cut

and thats what its about. theres enough money to pay for what the employees are demanding, they just dont want to

lol @ you thinking there walking a fine line :FOH: these fast food chains make alot of money fam. they can afford to pay there employees more.

Do u cats understand that if they win all hell will break loose? What's the point of education (as far as requirements) if you have cats making more then you with none while you come fresh out of college straight to a $14 an hour job while someone with no skill makes a dollar more as you work your ass off for those student loans? :heh:

You know what's gonna happen if they win right? McDonald's will probably start requiring at least an associates degree in order to work there...

... while still hiking food prices... :mjpls:

Companies shouldn't be earning tens of billions every year while paying their workers unlivable wages.

I'll never have to work in fast food/retail again....but right is right & wrong is wrong :upsetfavre:
