:whoa: Justin Lin changing up the franchise from street racing to over the top adrenaline pumping action heist films and The Rock coming on board is what got the franchise to blow up.

I forgot the numbers on 1 and 2..3 and 4? Who watched that? Lol...Rock vs Vin Diesel carried 5...they all got shine in 6 with Michelle Rodriguez and Gina getting a face off too. 5 and 6 made Huge money though. Walker was essential but he wasn't the centerpiece by this point..it was the theme and who the new villain was gonna be....Jason Statham. Theater I was at..fans reacted loudly to Tyrese's observations and jokes.

lol at you thinking studios, writers, producers, directors, actors are going to give up their meal ticket out of respect

vin diesel going to be like nah ill just giv eup my 30 mill plus

They're not gonna do 8 & 9 man.

And if they try, the movies are going to make less money than they should have made.

In one facet you are correct.

HOWEVER in this particular case, where it is proven that the ENSEMBLE surrounding the franchise is what the audience cares for then can certainly end that particular franchise.

Imagine Will Smith and Martin Lawrence announcing their going to do a trilogy of Bad Boys films, Martin dies suddenly during the filming of Bad Boys 4, you just can't replace Martin's character with Kevin Hart or Chris Rock and expect the franchise to run without missing a beat, why? Because the chemistry between the two leads of Smith and Lawrence are the EXACT reason WHY that franchise prints money. F&F prints money based upon the chemistry generated by Vin AND Paul, which in turn energizes the entire cast. The audience doesn't necessarily care about the races and explosions, they care about these CHARACTERS being put in the situations of racing and explosions. You lose Paul Walker and you've lost one half of the ESSENTIAL reason why the franchise works in the first place.

So you are correct in your assertion that the studios, executives, managers, etc primarily care about the financial dividends attached to the franchise, but in this case it's actually the CAST that provides those dividends.

thats what you think breh

you think the ywould stop making avengers movies if chris evans died?

:heh:

F&F was always and has always been about Dom & Brian. If Brian didn't matter, how come this movie came out and Vin wasn't in it? :heh:

As sad as this sounds, the Fast franchise will keep going on. Only way it stops is if Vin Diesel says he won't do anymore. It's Universal's cash cow. Their biggest franchise. Walker is an important and integral part, but the movies have become big ensemble movies. They can stunt cast and create a new character ,like for say, Channing Tatum or someone and it would fill the void.

Right now Vin Diesel and The Rock are the lynchpin to the series. I bet the beef up The Rock's role for the rest of the series.

Isn't the Rock filming Hercules at the same time. I thought his role would be scaled back. Honestly though they could have him take more on to make up for Paul being missing.

Hercules is done filming. the Rock is available for a short window. Which I'm sure they will use. Also the Rock is about to be the star of an HBO series about sports athletes that Mark Wahlberg is producing. They are filming the pilot now, or are going to in early January. But still that won't take up too much time.

As cold as it sounds, part of the me to the ensemble cast was to make the series more flexible in case someone dropped out, or wasn't available. Unless this movie flops, there will be more.
