Idk bro, he's surprised me a few times over the years making references to certain artists that on its face I wouldn't even think he knew they existed.

It's probably a product of who he was around (DITC) because even though he was signed he was pretty much underground-ish until Pun blew up. So he came up doing shows with a lot of these super underground acts.

This reminds me of some old interview I saw with Diddy. The interviewer asked him what his album of the year was, and Diddy named some underground album. The interviewer was like “I would have never expected that.” Diddy basically responded and said you can’t put nyggas in a box.

The music industry is small. Just because artist have their lane, doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate artist in another. I remember Trick Daddy saying AZ was one of his favorite rappers.

That podcast with Its The Real has been going on for years though. It wasn't this good when it started (I also don't think Jadakiss was on it at first). They've definitely hit their stride now. But I enjoy both shows.

Yeah. Especially back in the day, before he was a label owner he was around when the Black/Urban genre became a thing so came up wit JD, Dame, Rifkind, Kedar and others meant he also had bidding with all the artists they had access to also.
His Rza and Mobb Deep stories always surprises me.
