Is it more so about the nuance in how we discuss what we like that is the issue? I agree with you in that when the line between giving voice to your standards and what you like crosses the boundary into uplifting racist or otherwise dogmatic ideologies on beauty and attractiveness (ie someone liking white women more and putting down black women by voicing how black women need to look more like white women) it's definitely unacceptable.
