No.

My Dad wouldn't even let me watch the Cosby show unless he reviewed it first to make sure it was OK for kids.

And wouldn't let my little brother listen to any Rap.

We exposed the girls to many types of music, allowing them to see there was more out there than the degenerate stuff being given the most play. Also, while I could not control what they listen to after a certain age, I could control what I heard when they were near me. So if they did listen to it, it was not done in my presence at all.

I mean

I was listening to all types of shyt talking about Shooting Gang Banging & all kinds of wild shyt when I was younger than that never mind at that age so I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t let her listen to someone like Cardi

So I’d be a hypocrite:ufdup:

I actually was wondering about this yesterday.

Like Cardi B is SOOOO pushed by the media surely she must have a young female fanbase.

But this chicks WHOLE shyt is based off sex, drama, raunchiness and debauchery. Even with other rap chicks back in the day like Kim, Nicki, Eve etc.

Chicks who also sold sex in their music and were strippers themselves. It wasnt as front and center as Cardi B. They aint have no songs called Wet Ass p*ssy blazing the billboard charts and shyt.

If your daughter came home bumping Cardi B and following her on the gram an shyt how woudl you feel about it? :jbhmm:

Is it just a for gone thing at that point? You let her rock or you try and limit the access she has to that type of celebrity lifestyle/music/subject matter etc etc.
why do people romanticize the past and blatantly lie :mjlol:
Lil Kim n Foxy and countless female rappers of the 90s were just as bad if not worse

I wouldn’t listen to it in their presence, but to think they aren’t listening to it when you aren’t around is naive. Your focus needs to be on raising kids properly, so they can listen to that, and not ACT LIKE THAT.

I have a 15 year old, actually a 16 year old daughter as of today, and she is on my YT premium plan which means she has access to YT music and can listen to whatever she wants. when I was that age, I was listening to the likes of ice cube, too short, snoop and dre and what not. however even tho kids have access to all the music they want these days, I have never seen her listening to cardi b. her fav artist is tyler the creator. so she likes stuff like that. she also liked kanye before he went crazy.

I'm not about censorship. Didn't work for me. I was taught enough by my parents that when I did encounter shyt that wasn't matching the values I was taught I could navigate it without being impressionable.

If you raised a teenager in 2025 and think you banning them from media you might be a goofy parent. Tell them why you object to it and have that discussion so that when they listen to Cardi they can hear why you object and not be influenced by thottisms. This is how you raise an intelligent child. They might sneak listens but not play it around you and they will come to a conclusion if you did a good job that it's not for them/relatable to them.

I was exposed to all types of music at a young age. I made conclusions decisions about the rap I wanted to hear based on the artist substance

True but at least back in the day you had balance. Rnb was still popping and people like Erykah and Lauryn were blazing the charts also (and yes I know they were kind of trifling behind the music but at least it wasn't on front street)
