What other RPG's have been on the level of the GOAT RPGs? I'll cop and check 'em out right away if I haven't played 'em yet.

I never beat Dragon Quest 8 but it was like 7 years ago and I still know the name Dhoulmascus.. and a lot of the story lol.

I think Xenogears is the G.O.A.T though.. I just beat that recently..

Before that to me Chrono Trigger was G.O.A.T

I learned that they had the same music composer.. Yasunori Mitsuda.

How many of you think music helped you get into your favorite RPGs?

To me it is a main factor, after realizing this. Even Tactics, which may not compare as far as greatness of music is concerned to Xenogears, has perfect music for its story. Every song fits well with the story, and draws you into whats going to happen. That is a factor into a soundtracks greatness also.
