Most modern statues seek to be too realistic. Like someone is looking at sports illustrated photograph and trying to replicate it in bronze. In doing so they come off as boring recreations of a real event. You see it and move on quickly to much more interesting things.
This statue however is like Jordan is literally sending his opponents to hell. Or they are already in hell and this is their fate. Like the 7th layer of hell is you getting dunked on repeatedly while disintegrating in a whirling inferno of Airness for all eternity. You can see the pain and anguish in the face of one of the figures as it turns to try and get away from the bounding vaguely inhuman Jordan but as the famous saying goes “abandon all hope, ye who enter here”. There is now escape. It’s inevitable. And civilizations thousands of years in the future will marvel at it and wonder what great power produced such a being.
