Anyway crime being slightly up not surprisingly, police forces felt like they couldn't do their job after the pandemic due to media reporting on their good boys club attitudes

A lot of us on here told yall how obvious it is that crime is way up, just off of observation alone (social media tells a lot), but yall swore that was a lie. The FBI revised the crime rate and it shows how true it is:

Each year, the FBI releases headline crime report data for the calendar year prior, and a separate crime victimization survey that asks Americans what crimes they have been the victims of. Comparing these reports provides insight into crime reporting rates and the accuracy of crime statistics.
While earlier reporting demonstrated that theft is worsening and often underreported, the growing divergence between the FBI’s annual crime victimization survey and its tabulations of reported crime indicates worsening trends in theft.
However, recent changes in how crime reporting data is collected, along with anomalous 2020 COVID-era data and reporting, have muddied the waters.

Why are they arbitrarily comparing it to 2019. By that logic you can go pick a random year in the 90s when crime was higher and say how much it’s come down since 1992. Just silly shyt.

No they don’t. They had to update the jobs numbers recently. About a million jobs weren’t real

This data is from 2019-2023. It has been reported numerous times that crime was crazy in 2020, the highest since the 90s.

What we know about the increase in U.S. murders in 2020

The U.S. murder rate rose 30% between 2019 and 2020 – the largest single-year increase in more than a century.

Same in 2021 as were coming to the end of the pandemic.

None of this is new. Last year was a big drop in violent crime nationally, and 2024 is on pace for another drop. So yeah, including 2019-2021, crime was higher than the previous 5 or so years. But the trends have been very positive as people have said.

Facts. My uneducated guess is that the 2023 numbers are lower than 2020, 2021 & 2022 so they had to massage the message to get a Republican talking point stewing
