New Audio quality check request:

Ok this is the new mic setup. I re-did the audio(not the content overall) and uploaded episode 1 with a new audio track. I've also decided on a new way to do the videos. But for now I need to know the audio is fine before I go further with my new recording style. If the audio is fine I'll then record episode 5 in the new setup/recording style.

Again ...I'm simply checking the audio quality. The videos are currently still unlisted to the public.
Thanks :salute:

Better audio. Still needs work, but better.

Good looking out. I'm going to wait on a couple other sources before going ahead with further episodes. But yeah it's simple growing pains ...for instance I improved the audio by simply sitting closer to the mic. if you look at the video feed you'll see i'm sitting on the couch , away from the mic.

So even small things like that I'm catching. I.E. growing pains.

I already have a different method for doing the videos going forward. I'll start using that on episode 5 and up provided the audio issues have been saficently addressed in the interim of getting a new mic.

First off thanks again for the swift feed back :salute:

Second, that said I'm already well aware of the audio issues.:whoa:

I'm looking to get the same mic setup as Rob from comics explained:banderas:

This is his mic setup :ohhh:

electrovoice_re20_1.jpg

Now if someone wants to throw me $450 to get a mic :sas1: .....feel free :sas2:
Till then I build with what I have on hand.:yeshrug:
...yes there is a middle ground :whoa:

Lastly, It sounds like you would prefer a more scripted / structured "show" as opposed to what is essentially a "video podcast" format.:francis: I.E....

intro

segment card: What is this entity?
segment content:
general overview - who made it, how many people run it, target audience, etc

segment card: What specifically does this entity offer / consist of?
segment content:
List service sections - previews, reviews, hip hop, anime, etc

segment card: What's your take?
segment content:
commentary on the different aspects / services listed above

outro

I'm going to keep the podcast / radioshow feel for now:jbhmm: ...though I could merge the two types and keep the loose talk to the commentary :ehh: I'm essentially finding my feet for now :yeshrug: hence the feedback request.

Thanks again :salute:

Breh just get a Rode shotgun mic

You can get a brand new one on Amazon for half of what that mic costs or getting it cheaper off ebay

Mic placement was exactly what I mentioned in my first post. that's why I reccomended a headset before. In your audio you can hear the emptiness of your room. The sound reflecting off of sheet rock. You don't want that. Bring that mic closer and sit somewhere with more furniture in it if you can't afford acoustic treatments.

Yeah I do recall you mentioning that. Actually I first tried recording with my Logitech gaming head set :snoop: ...i'll say no more :francis:

I heard all of that also....

1. I had to turn the noise cancellation up to around %20 of the max volume, which got rid of the random squills & electronic noises/echos.
2. Turn the recording volume down from %100 to %75 to get ride of the room background humming AC,Fan,echo, ect noise.
3. Turn on the directional mic so that it only records whats directly in front (this was tricky because you cut out if you move around)

I didn't know to do any of this stuff and had to kinda experiment until I got the audio result in the repost ...which is why I was asking for feedback to refine my process.
The above advice you gave that I listed in green is actually exactly the kind of tangible tips that I was looking for earlier to help refine the quality.:ohhh:

Gaming crossroads:
Episode 5 Jtyger games(out of Mississippi)

This will basically be the setup going forward. I feel like I've fixed most of the major issues I had in my format & presentation. It's just tweaks from here on out.:jbhmm:

My new recording process: :whoo:
  1. Read the target material prior to recording.
  2. Create mental talking points to hit.
  3. Record the raw audio of myself going through the material.(Siting right up on the mic to remain clear)
  4. Edit the audio down to the needed points.
  5. Video Record myself going through the material.(while using/listening to the edited audio as a guide)
  6. Blend everything together.
Note: If I have to go into a long dialog/rant make visual aids so that it's clear what I'm talking about and where I'm at in my thoughts. (This shyt takes forever)

:whew:
I'm going to do something more straight forward for the next 1 or 2 shows like review preview sites. Maybe gamingIlluminati.com , RoKtheReaper.com, or DesignOriented.com I really like that last one D.O. because it's so novel a concept. Also review/preview sites provide enough skimable content I can get in & out quick ...doing a summary show without much commentary needed on my part.

drop the music or just add subtle background music with the volume at LEAST 50% lower than what it currently is set at.

Yeah, I noticed that also. It wasn't that loud in the raw file. It's also dependent on my audio setup. On Phone & laptop speakers the voice is clear. With home stereo setup the music is more pronounced. It's not publicly listed yet so I have time to change it.

Also yes the music is already set past %50 lower then the voice.

Sorry, but :russell:

You gotta be more energetic and lower the background music.

You sound monotone, and it makes the video seem boring. :manny:

You also have some bad lag on your last video.

Nothing to be sorry about ...I asked for feedback and you'd do me a disservice if you didn't give your honest opinion.:ehh: As long as the tone & delivery is respectful I'm good.:jawalrus:

:jbhmm: Yes, I agree and am aware of the background music which was the topic of the previous two post above. The audio mix sounds fine on some playback devices and loud on others. It's not publicly listed yet so I have time to upload another.(I was actually playing around with the audio before bed)

:patrice:
As for the tone being flat I don't hear that at all. I'm going to keep the overall tone. I'm passing on information and commentary as a core product. While sure you can infuse humor & "energy" I'm not trying to be humorous it's not really that kinda thing. It's no different then a vlog, letsplay video, etc. I think when people read "youtube SHOW" their expectations and assumptions go in different directions then if I said something like "youtube episodic black gaming content VLOG"
