I've told other nerds that their t-shirts or hoodies were dope. Male and female. I've complimented cosplayers on the job they did. I've never told another dude he looks buff or anything. Some gay dude told me he loved my hair. That was it.

I had an ex gf who had a good female friend who lived in Philly back in '05. My ex and I lived in South Jersey but were only a 10 minute train ride away. So we'd frequent the city. My ex's friend had a roommate who was a gay dude. Cool ass guy, no issues.
We'd go pregame at there spot before going out. They'd have random parties too. Anyway... the gay dude had gay friends and acquaintances come over and chill. Most were respectful when they'd make advances, forcing me to explain that I was straight and there with my girl.
But there was one dude who was way too persistent and I had to sternly tell him that I wasnt interested. That was awkward as hell for me. I'm normally cool with just being like, "Nah, I'm straight but thanks."
Long story short...
He never offered to pay for my babysitter.
