Dude had to know his wife was looking to relocate for better pay.

Either, she was in school, graduated, this opportunity popped up and he was a rest haven.

She knew what she was doing and didnt inform him till the last minute.

Married couples just dont come up with last minute ultimatums out the blue..

He's probably jealous. People don't like thinking this way but it's true. Your partner can be jealous of you and want to block you from your goals and succeeding.

Though I agree that's not always the case. Some people may just like things to stay the same and not get better nor worse. Moving puts him in a state of discomfort, it forces him to both change and grow. When most people reach a certain age, there's no changing who they are as a person.

It however does not justify him not wanting to compromise and move so they are in a better situation. We don't know all the details though.
