if it goes down what difference does it make if its on Sony, Microsoft, or the publisher? the end result is it happening. its like all you care about is Sony vs Microsoft and this is a talking point for you.A console isn't a pc...
A firmware update built into the disc isn't the same as an online connection in order to play. So a check when you boot the disc/install the game on the PS4 hard drive is nothing. After that is done you can play. Fine. If they require an online check (installed when you install the game), again, that's on the publisher, not Sony.
its like the example i gave. you come home from work and see your house was broken into and i approach you and tell you "yeah i was sitting on my porch with my rifle and some guy broke into your house." is your reaction gonna be its on the thief or is it gonna be "well damn nikka why didn't you stop him if you had a gun?"
you understand if Sony allows them to do stuff like this the end result is the same or worse.

so you'd rather have an online check everytime you play a game. Instead every 24 hours. Just so you can say "sony left it up to the developers"

What game requires that?
