So I just got custody of my 3 1/2 year old. Right now I got him a 3ds he loves video games. I have xbox 360/xbox one and ps4. What type of games do you recommend to play with your kids? Right now he is having a blast with Zelda and Mario what other ones do you recommend. He decent at the games but at what age did your kids really start understanding the concepts behind games. For instance in Zelda he can't do a dungeon but he can run the open world and bust monsters up with his sword but doen't understand the concept of the game.

usually around 5 I'd say is when they start comprehending it more and getting their hand/eye coordination better. My oldest son just turned 6 and he's playing more platformers and shyt understanding the objectives and shyt.

Thanks. Hand eye coordination isn't the problem my sons really advanced at that shyt. Crawled at five months walked at 7 and been doing mile hikes since 10 months. Just the objective parts he has no clue. I'm happy though he loves video games and if I let him he would play all waking hours. So when dad needs a little battlefield 4 I just put a 3ds in hands and we get or gaming on.

I tried the who giving him an xbox controller that did nothing but he saw right through that and told me his controller was broken and not doing anything :(

Well, I have a 3 year old Son and now a newborn son.

I once slipped up and my son saw me playing GTAV... He was like "Kill that person" pointing at a random pedestrian and I was like

Nah, he can't see this.

I say this because I do think it is important to filter what your children see to an extent. When I want to get my older son involved(He is smart enough now to know not to just take the controller that's not working and act like he's playing), so I allow him to watch and play NBA 2k (He loves being in the practice mode and running to the ball and shooting the shots) and now, FOrza.

Honestly, if your children are at an age where they can actually play more complex games, I seriously suggest RPGS. Dialogue, story, organization. I think it really helps kids in a way.

Good luck, I'm thikning about copping the Marvel Super Heroes though.

iPad games, kirby games, poo yoos. Also coop games like rayman, mario, kirby on wii are fun for kids and you can help them through. Zelda is too advanced for little kids because it requires a lot of reading and the puzzles can be a bit too tricky.

Damn. My son is about to be 5
I used to let him play call of duty
He wasn't very good
He'd go like 2-27
But then I noticed that was the only game he'd want to play
And hed get similar games on the iPad
He's into motorcycles and guns

I deaded him on all the shooting games
He now plays learning and racing games on the iPad
And ratchet and clank on the PlayStation
Occasionally I'll throw on mortal kombat and play a few games with him
He's actually caught me on some cheese shyt a couple of times and won

Illest gaming moment was with my daughter tho
We was at chuck e cheese
We played one of those shooters where we each get a gun
We were on a boat and had to shoot the pirates
We was getting it in together
We had mad fun
It was the first time I played with one of my kids a co-op game
