I got my son (he's three gonna be 4 in march) a nook for Christmas. I was thinking of getting him the 3DS but it looked like he'd have to much trouble with all the buttons. With this thing though the games are cheap even the best don't cost much. Then I got him some books and it reads them out loud to him.

He really likes playing Rayman I don't know if 3ds has any of those games but they look safe. Another is JetPack Joyride it's a side scrolling game with really basic controls. Your kid might like side scrollers.

It feels great when your playing co-op games with your kid though, and they get in trouble and you run over and help him or watching em figure puzzles and how to open doors is crazy.

Congrats on getting your son.

So I just got custody of my 3 1/2 year old.
Well then it's safe to assume that his mom ain't shyt so I would focus on buying some books and reading them to him. Get that little breh away from games at least until he reaches 5-6.

There are so many books, puzzles, legos, and toys that will stimulate that kids mind. You don't want a 3 year old staring into a screen at a time when he should be in his own head, talking to himself and imagining his own world.

If he really needs to play it then at least make sure that the games/videos are educational.

My son is 4 and he only plays racing games. He doesn't have the patience for anything else.

My daughter is 7 and mostly likes platformers. I was suprises at how well she's able to play Max the curse of brotherhood. She really loved little big planet.

.

I'm just way more financially stable then his mother. We've always been cool and she always put the kid first. So I'm way better off and he wanted to come stay with me. So now he is with me. We would never keep each other away from the kid.

We do alot of things besides game. Park, Swimming, Walks, Puzzles, Coloring, Reading and Disney Land is about 15-20 minutes away so we do loads of other things. I'm well off and my son has been taken care of since birth. Good looking out thou.

Thanks everyone for good suggestions I just picked up the sponge bob ds game. Also booked mark some of those educational sites.

So I just got custody of my 3 1/2 year old. Right now I got him a 3ds he loves video games. I have xbox 360/xbox one and ps4. What type of games do you recommend to play with your kids? Right now he is having a blast with Zelda and Mario what other ones do you recommend. He decent at the games but at what age did your kids really start understanding the concepts behind games. For instance in Zelda he can't do a dungeon but he can run the open world and bust monsters up with his sword but doen't understand the concept of the game.
3.5 seems kinda young for games. maybe a kid that age should play Wii Sports or something very simple.

The whole "don't let your kids play video games" shyt is really overboard unless they playing em 24/7. Of course you still read with them and edutainment games are great, but straight video games are fine too in set time limits and can be alot of fun, especially coop games. Kids will still use their imaginations, they just might put video game characters into their imaginative play instead of fairy tale or tv characters. When it comes to imaginative play they pull from anything they are familiar with.

i dont know if i would recommend letting your 3yr old play games with fighting or anything in it... they tend to mimic what they see. I dont even play them around my lil ones, i got 6 and 3 yr old boys.

I recommend Mario. Get a Wii ( i modded mines), get New Super Mario and let him go at it. My lil ones also like Wii fit and some of them Dora/Diego Games.

you have to monitor thier gaming becuase they can become obsessed lol. We only allow video games during the weekend during the school year, and during the summer we set time limits.
