HOWEVER

this does not excuse his behavior in killing the kid.

They can spin it and say Mike was a felon by law and the cop can use deadly force on a fleeing felon. They're going to completely forget that he surrendered.

If he was innocent, he would have filled out the incident report and not have somebody do it for him, he wouldn't have fled right after it happened. If you're innocent and especially a cop wouldn't you want to tell your side of the story immediately.
