In regards to that deal, his dad was in MLB himself. Why did he even need the advance money? I'm surprised something like that is even legal

It's standard practice to buy out your arbitration years for guys that are going to be stars, it's beneficial on both ends. Tatis Sr wasn't some star, he was a journeyman. He made decent money but that was 10 years ago - who knows what his situation is now? If someone comes to you as a ball player and offers you 300m, you'd have to be crazy not to take it. All it takes is one bad break of a hand or getting beaned by a FB and you're never the same.
na i believe @J Money is talking about the side deal i posted where those investors give advance money to players and recoup down the road if the player signs a big contract in the majors.....not the MLB contract Tatis just signed.

so the idea is that Tatis owes possibly up to 10% of his new contract to this investment group of guys.

Yeah I was expecting a dumb response back

Do you
What about my response is dumb?

How much did his father earn thru his playing career? How much did he save or invest? How much did he put into Jr's life and development?

What if he wanted to take an advance to be financially independent? What if things w his family weren't going well and he needed the money?

All viable questions before saying "why didn't he just get money from his dad?" Well maybe it wasn't an option.

He made an assumption, as if every athlete is financially responsible.

Almost always take the money in a situation like his, especially when the MLB has trash ass arbitration.

All it takes is one injury.

:mjlol:Then what did you do?

That statement implies that you assume he has the money, when you don’t know his financial situation. Stop being a clown.

Stop making assumptions :sas2::jbhmm:

Regardless apologies about the needless remark in my previous post I'm trying to do better
