When will developers find a balance between visuals and performance, and when do fans accept that balance?

Yes I love having the option to upgrade.

If consoles generations are gonna continue being 7-8 years I want an upgrade option 4 years in.

I would go PC route if Sony games dropped day one with same quality as console version
