XIII actually has the best FF battle theme. That and the battle system are the two things SE got right with that game.

Final fantasy 6, 7 and 9 are really the best.

6 pretty much perfected the theme from 1 till it, then 9 came alone and blew it out the water. 7 took it in a completely new direction and it's the most iconic.

8 Battle theme was ass but the boss battles and Laguna battles

Love FF8 but as far as JRPGs went during that era, LoD had by the best battle music to me.
