FIFA 15 question - How to shoot a ball

There's one thing that I haven't been able to get regarding shooting in Fifa 15.

How do you shoot a straight, linear, hard bullet shot?

From my understanding, there's only 1 option when it comes to shooting :

the longer you press the shooting button, the harder and higher it gets

but why does it automatically go higher too? why can't it just be straight/linear and hard?

yo i just got fifa 06 for the gamecube and i have this same question

that explains it better than I can.. Works best when they use the outside of the foot, don't use too much power.. you have to float them in, I find holding in R2 in helps too.

I don't know if it's placebo, but I hold down LT/L2 while I shoot and it hits it hard and keeps it low, rather than soaring over the net like when you usually hold down the shoot button

yeah it does, I said R2 but meant L2.
