what do you find benifits you the most? Trying to get into SF and I'm trying to figure out if the regular analog sticks will work for the directional inputs
It's difficult if you're using the analog sticks, stick with the dpad. I have to two fightsticks. if you can find the Madcatz tourney editions i'd say go with that. shyt i haven't touched SF in over 2 years.
You use the dpad for SF?
No one can answer this for you honestly. If you're used to pad, there's going to be a learning curve if you switch to stick. So be aware of that.what do you find benifits you the most? Wrong 150$ dont make you good a person with can beat a person with a stick as long as your the better player. Execution doesnt matter if you actually spent enough time playing your character of choice you should be able to to anything given enough practice . I've probbaly played over 15000 hours in fighting and never felt that I should blame a controller from messing up combos or reacting to opponents mistakesWhen it comes down to it, two players with equal knowledge of a character...the one with a fight stick / pad will probably be better than the one with a regular control.
It's just an execution thing. You don't have the same control with a controller that you do so your execution will not be as good.

I never had any problems with execution so I don't plink I just got to a point where I could do anything with a controller and 95% of the pro players spent time in the arcades when they were younger so they More accustomed to it. mcv2 ,umvc3,kof,tekken forces you to havee execution so street fighter isnt any different . OP should get the fight stick IF he can preform all motions and do at least a few 1 frame links on the controller @The G.O.D II .Breh, there is a reason that 95% of top tier players don't use controllers when it comes to execution heavy fighting games. Sticks are typically an investment but, if you're serious about fighting games, a stick will benefit your fighting game.
I use a controller and I main Dudley. My best friend went overseas and let me borrow his stick and I was able to see the difference in a month. Plinking, alone, makes a differences and opens up a world of combo difference because I can plink much easier with the button layout.
Yes, a better player with a controller can still be great and kick ass but it's simply easier to execute more precise combos wth an arcade stick.
