He did the right thing by calling the time out. He didn't risk the situation of a jumpball. If you have timeouts and you're trapped, you use them. Playing the percentages is calling the timeout: d-will took the power out of the Bulls' hands if they got their hands on the ball and he took the power out of the refs' hands, if they called a jump ball.

Calling a timeout means there's 0% chance of a jumpball.

Brooklyn was practically handing over the game with all the missed FTs and the poor execution late, but the Bulls just couldn't buy a basket.
