I'll have to go with Alien, even though it's 2 films against 5. MI is consistent but Alien & Aliens are solidified as classic. As dope as Ving Rhames has been, that cast of characters in Aliens can't be topped by many.
But I finally watched Rogue Nation last year and was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining it was.

Had to vote Alien. MI is obviously more consistent and I can make the case that it exemplifies the term "franchise" more than Alien does. But the best movies between the two are in the Alien franchise and, more importantly for me, I feel Alien is the more ambitious franchise. Ambition tends to get very strong reactions from fans (good or bad), especially when they feel a connection to the franchise. I loved Prometheus. Many didn't. Yet a lot of those that didn't ended up asking why Covenant strayed from storylines created in Prometheus despite Covenant being a clear attempt to acquiesce to fan complaints about Prometheus
MI is going to give the fans what they want all the time yet I don't feel any entry in the series hit the highs of other spy franchises like Bond or Bourne

So I rented Alien on Amazon video and I must say it's a real good movie. Not finished yet but good so far. Had me like 
when watching. The main suspense hasn't arrived yet. I was like 
when the black guy was talking about going home and getting his bonus and the white guy suggested they go investigate the distress signal. I'm like 
. Motherfukker you in outer space. I wouldn't even investigate a strange noise on earth. 
And then later this fukking alien thing just rips out of buddies body.
. Ripley telling the one guy 
by bringing that shyt on this ship. A little over an hour in. Getting off the highway on way home to finish watching.
Unless there's something better on tv like Monday night raw? Ain't that right @MartyMcFly ?

When is it not these days. Lol. I would check out the finish of either one of the hockey games but the potential clinching teams are on the road so that's less exciting especially to a casual like me. And the basketball game looks to be a blowout right now so I'll pass on that also. Go make me some popcorn and turn on the firestick.
Damn I've had hours of enjoyment from both these franchises. I'm a sci-fi guy so Alien is one of the grails, M.I. without the stunts hasn't been that great but Rogue Nation was fuego, from 3 on its been getting better and better some of the best popcorn action movies of the 20-30 years. While the Alien franchise is trending hard the other way, I feel like Ridley Scott needs to hand the franchise over to someone with a new fresh take on things, he wanted that new chick to be his new Ripley and that didn't work so he just killed her off...I still voted for aliens of the strength of the first 2

I think this is an interesting match up because it really boils to you as a person. Do you prefer consistency or do you tolerate misses when the hits are high?
Downloading Aliens now. To check out tomorrow night. Alien was good. That thing came thru and fukked everything up. Lots of suspense. Different from the sci-fi films of today. But still held its own. Speaking of aliens and the moral of the movie, that's why we can't let these foreign beings enter our country, I mean spaceship.
