You have different party members you can switch between like normal and they all use diff weapons but it's not turned based, it's action combat.

How is the mission structure? Is there towns and a large overworld to explore?
Apparently you have a main hub (school) that you have 12 in game hours to run around and do side mission in. Once that time is up, and it's mission day, your CO will give you your mission orders. From there you leave out the main gate and are transported to a diff location.
edit: Nvm, you are transported to a world map, kinda like the ps1 days, where random encounters can happen. You travel to your next mission by foot after you leave the hub.
