Rumor: Final Fantasy Versus XIII Is Dead

when I read this.

PLEASE let this either be an unfounded rumor or them just making the material into Final Fantasy XV.

Once I heard the conformation that Stella is no longer in what was once called Versus XIII today it was clear that the game was canceled and Final Fantasy XV is not Versus XIII. It uses some of the characters and concepts from it but they aren't the same game. Rip Versus XIII.

I can't keep up with all these FF numbers, but I could have sworn it was widely known and accepted as official that FFversus 13 was essentially scrapped and used to build final fantasy 15 for a while now

No the common knowledge was that XV was a re-named Versus XIII but the truth is Versus XIII was canceled and XV borrows a few elements from it.
Last year people started asking questions like is Stella still in the game and the developers wouldn't comment.

I can't believe how the game got canceled. One of the most disgusting acts in gaming since Duke Nukem Forever. They silently canceled it and took main elements from it and re-purposed them into a new game just to save face. When they announced the new game it's actual director was announced as a co-director and Versus XIII's director was said to be the main director. Later the original director was removed from the project entirely.

There's no doubt in my mind that Square Enix staged that shyt just so they could avoid announcing the cancellation of a game they kept people hyped up on for years. When XV was announced Nomura was likely already off the project and it was a completely different game. The whole point of Versus XIII was a Nomura and Nojima (writer of VII, X, and Kingdom Hearts) created Final Fantasy which XV isn't.

I can't believe people were expecting the game and story to stay the same after 9 years in development!

Most people on this site were in junior high/High school when this game was announced, now we got lives and responsibilities and such.

At this point, just get the game out and move on to Agni's Philosophy/Final Fantasy 16.

The game was canceled after 5 or so years in development. This new game has only been is development a few years. This isn't a case of changes to the same game this is a separate game that recycled character designs from a previous canceled game. The bulk of the team that worked on the previous title is gone and all the major players are gone.

My problem is if the game was canned 5-6 years ago then tell your fans as much. Don't lie and deceive them and then come clean with the impending release of the new game. They're only coming clean now because in August they plan to show it at Gamescom.
