I'm 27 but I'm gonna act like I was 15-20 during the "Golden Years" of Hip Hop

NO YOU WASN'T!!!

You learned about that shyt later. You really a product of the LATE 90's/Early 2000's Hip Hop

Yes, but you can debate an era. You can debate the 70's soul, funk, R&B to 90's R&B....and cannot be mad either way. The musicianship was still there even though the decade changed. Today's hip hop is just straight trash in terms what the mainstream promotes.

The era was flawless in my eyes

This song sums up my feelings towards music

:blessed:

It really wasn't..... queuing up for albums and bootleggin and dubbin tapes was cool as a kid NOT now

If you 27 like me you came into age off of Jay, DMX, JaRule, Nelly, Em, 50, and Pun....

Unless you from the south then it might have Cash money or whatever these bammas listened to

You didn't witness prime Jodeci, LL, Tribe, Snoop and Pac breh...not even Wu :martin:

Stop it.

Record sales are low, artist development is dead, 360 deals exist, video budgets are miniscule and these rappers are themselves not caricatures.......

It's a new age....now go bump some Thugger or bathe in the Ultralight Beam

I would argue your ear for music always sucked or was very narrow and closed minded...Now the time has come where cats like you who completely disavowed other regions, and other styles are living in hell without hiphop:banderas:

I'd call that a proper punishment:sas1:,either correct your ear if that's possible,or move on:francis:...I know this to be the case because even if you didn't like the new shyt, theres no way you've listened to all the great old shyt...so either your ear for music is narrow minded,or you just are spoiled and want to be spoon fed because this shyt came to us so easy in the 90's:mjcry:.

One is your fault more than the other:manny:

No, see idk if you're from the south, but we had something called the box that played great hip hop videos. You have no clue what I grew up on.

I appreciate south music....if I say I copped deeply Rooted then that must mean I'm a Scarface fan which means I'm familiar with his body of work all around just like I'm familiar with Goodie mobb and outkast and even early eight ball and mjg. See the difference between them and the new era is they put out good music. The new era doesn't.

Never question what I know or who I listened to because my knowledge I know for a fact when it comes to 90's hip hop, early 00's and soul, funk, jazz of any era is greater than yours.

your stars are but dust on my shoes
Its amazing because when I go through my 90s shyt, a lot of it has aged terribly, not to mention hella records were on that ultrathug, street shyt.

Its easy to look back on an entire decade and pick the best records while simultaneously looking past everything else, huh?:francis:

I'll say a like less of hip-hop unlike early I like damn near everything. Spotify exponentially broadened my musical taste.

I barely listen to hip hop anymore. I still have the stuff I grew up with but that's about it. I don't have the time to dig and search and find dope artists. I used to be able to listen to the radio and find some then hit the forums and find a bunch more. But now the radio is beyond garbage and a lot of stuff that gets hyped on the forums is terrible to me, I can't even understand what these dudes are talking about. So, yea, I understand what you're saying.

It's funny... the older I get the more I enjoy the fukkery that some of these youngsters provide. I will argue that a lot of it is no more trash than some of the stupider acts of the 90's. Who can deny that Bush Babees were trash? Yet and still, they had some joints haha

I keep Future in rotation, I like most of his shyt... I even found a couple tracks on that Travis Scott album. Young Thug is too weird for me but STILL I fucvk with some tracks off Slime Season 1, nikka is lowkey hilarious with the adlibs.

Mainly, I'm just a lover of music which is why I can't stop listening to it... no matter how disgusting or ridiculous the culture around it gets. I will always find something I can appreciate.

Then again, I'm listening to Sun Ra as I type this so I got a diverse ear :sas1:

how are you an elder statesmen when the current crop of rappers are your age ?

You can say that once the next wave takes over but for now

STOP IT.

I used those specific rappers to illustrate that era....
Regional preference is down to you.

Your knowledge on southern music might very well be extensive but
you lack the faculty of reasoning.....and are loyal to your ignorance

It's as if you believe your lofty standards should be applicable to
music today despite declining revenues and the advent of technology

THIS ISN'T THE 90S!

Worst of all is you mimic the same sentiments jazz lovers had when
they heard "Smokey Robinson and his devil music" or stuck up Brits
when the Rolling Stones dropped....

I'm more into early blues, soul, kwaito, r&B hip hop, rock, than funk n jazz

P.S. If you are that hard pressed there's always Joey Badass :hitunes:
