It was long overdue but it finally happened

I didn't tell him the main reason why I was quitting but I explained to him that I had a better opportunity with benefits ( something that he refused to offer ) and that today is my last day.

It was a law firm but a private owned one located in downtown Chicago .

Still mom and pop. It wasnt a corporate work place that had a work culture sanitized by legal and hr policies.

I wasn't trying to knock the work you do but trying to draw a distinction between what's allowable behavior between mom and pop shop and a corporation of any size
