"We will be a legit store, so expect to see the heavy hitters that we all know and love," she said. "But in addition to those usual suspects, we want to showcase diverse comics, creators, and characters. We think that comics are for everyone and anyone that loves comics-women, people of color, and the LGBTQ community. We will actively look to stock titles that showcase people in these groups, right along with Superman, Batman, Captain America, and Thor."

"To me, it's about making it available," she added. "We will definitely make extra effort to promote works by and about members of underrepresented groups, but I also have love for the comic book mainstays like Captain America and Batman. I just want to help make people aware of everything that is out there and hopefully get people to expand their horizons."

If you are on Facebook, feel free to checkout Chocolate City Comics for all-black comics, both mainstream and indie.

Do people not understand the demographics in the comic book industry :what:

So should she sale Spawn, Static Shock (which I'm sure she has in stock) and some indie black comics only? That'd be nice if she didn't want to stay in business. TBH I'm sure if any black person into comics had enough capital to invest in a black comics only store/coffee shop that'd be the ideal shop but again, the demographics...

Her being black may very well bring out more black comic book fans or maybe not since two of you think that this kind of stuff only belongs to white people :jbhmm:

Crab in the bucket ass nikkas always tryna hate.:stopitslime: The shop is black owned. Let her eat. You cant control the demographic of your clientele. By virtue of it being located in Philly, hopefully some of us will check it out.

No, the shop is white owned as in the bank that gave her the startup money

And im sure she was sitting in that coffee shop (:mjpls:) thinking about how many black customers she was going to get by opening a comic book store, what with all these black people running around with comic books in their hands.

Okay...:snoop:

She said that she loved reading comics in her local coffee shop while attending Temple. Who knows what she was actually thinking. I could say she intended for the shop to serve customers at a rate of 80/20 black to white. You're a crab in the bucket ass nikka (in this instance) because you are denigrating the woman for being black and opening a comic shop.

And to your bank comment:pacspit:... Again, you are assuming she utilized a bank to finance her business.:comeon: She may or may not have done so, but its the crab mentality that makes you assume she did.
