It’s just really sad when two grown-ups cannot come to an agreement without having the court dictate financial obligations. That is the part. I really don’t like is having to be told to do something by an outside force that has no idea what goes on behind closed doors.

Child support laws definitely do need to be adjusted because it is highway robbery more often than not

I agree with both points. It would be great if both parties could agree but we know when it gets to that point there is often other drama concerning the romantic part of their relationship that failed so agreeing on anything is unlikely. And there are just some non custodial parents (women too…I was actually in court once when a chick was hauled off to jail for not paying) who ain’t gonna pay unless they are forced to.

But child support should be just that - the necessities for the CHILD. Not money to support a particular lifestyle for the parent with custody.
