First filed taxes two years ago when I wa 17, ended up owing the state like $50

yeah this is probably exactly what happened

instead of that 800 bucks getting taken out all year, you have to pay it all in 1 shot now. sucks, but it sounds "right" as far as taxes go

That wouldn't save you from getting taxed breh (unless it's an under the table job). Only difference is they'd be taking it out of your paycheck weekly.

And actually, it may have something to do with how low the pay is. Meaning the second job may be withholding assuming you're only making 12k/year, which would land you in the 15% bracket, but because you had that 32k base from your main job, you should be in the 25% bracket.

I actually prefer owing cuz that means I didn't over pay them for over the course of the year, but it's easy to see how that sticker shock gets people

I have 2 jobs.

I did it again but doing the other job first. It only says I owe when I put but in. When I put the first one in by itself it said I had $500 due back

When I put the other one in by itself it said I had $600 due back. But once both are in, I owe $800. One job was 32k the other 12k. The 12k one was mostly my tips tho if that means anything.
