Purchase the Fruity edition (you can upgrade later
when you have a better idea of what you want to do).
Get a cheap 61 or 49 key midi controller, you can use google
for that, just about any midi controller should work.
Check the thread at the top which starts with "Feast brehs".
If you'd like to avoid the possibility of acquiring viruses an all that from
hacked/cracked software you can also just go for the FREE and LEGAL options
like the Firebird 2 VST or the free drum kits.

You're saving yourself a ton of headache if you stay
away from cracked/hacked software.

A good website to use is :

You can eat off of this website, then move on to
more expensive and elaborate software as your skill set increases.

I don't really know much about protools but if you're
leaking for a cheaper option than FL Studio then check :

The full program costs $60, it includes everything
there are no handicaps like FL.

Studio One is also another good option (or so I've heard)
which costs significantly less than FL or Reason or the other
more popular daws while offering similar functionality.
And if I have it correctly it also comes with it's own sounds.

Both of these programs also run VST's and of course can import sample packs.

GOOD LOOKIN OUT PEOPLE....I DECIDED TO GO WITH PRO TOOLS EXPRESS & AN M-BOX...PRO TOOLS EXPRESS COMES WITH SEVERAL VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS & NOW IM JUST WAITIN FOR MY MIDI CONTROLLER TO COME THROUGH....I'LL PROLLY END UP ROLLIN WITH THE $99 M-AUDIO OXYGEN.....IM FAMILIAR WITH PRO TOOLS, BUT I NEVER TOOK THE TIME TO DOWNLOAD MY VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS....I CANT WAIT TO START MAKIN MY OWN BEATS ON THAT JOINT....THE ONLY WELL KNOWN PRO THAT USES PRO TOOLS TO MAKE BEATS IS HARRY FRAUD & THATS PRETTY GOOD COMPANY....I'VE BEEN MAKIN MUSIC FOR 10 YEARS NOW, SO IM DEFINITELY READY TO TAKE THAT NEXT STEP.....I APPRECIATE YALL FOR GIVIN FEEDBACK...FEEL FREE TO CHECK OUT SOME OF MY MUSIC VIA THE LINK...& IF YALL HAVE ANY INFO ABOUT PRO TOOLS BEAT MAKING...LET ME KNOW....STAY UP

i do all my shyt in pro tools, it has the best workflow imo, dont forget to look for RTAS plugins when downloading or coping something, pro tools dont work with VST...
