Out of all the options, House Party. The other movie options, although good, were foreign to me.

I would say School Daze captured the late 80s early 90s best. I remember visiting aunt and uncles at their colleges in the early 90s, their sororities and fraternities, step shows, dorm parties, greek picnics, house music. Those were the days.
Yea...to say that any of these "hood movies" depicted EVERYDAY life for most black people outside of that region is crazy. I voted house party because the wood wasn't up there.

Other. I was a teen in the mid nineties. Hoop Dreams was huge because I wanted to go D1. Agee and Gates were six years older, I didn't even know ball was that real in Chicago till then.

Kids too. It didn't seem sugarcoated. Running around the city, drinking, smoking, fukking. That seemed like a documentary more than a movie.

This is a good question and I'm not sure there's a right answer...

I can tell you the movies that resonated with me the most were Boyz N The Hood, Jason's Lyric, Set It Off, and White Men Can't Jump and Menace To Society, but those are Cali-centric films (besides Lyric) and unless you grew up in or around a culture like that, maybe it doesn't define the 90s for you. I never watched Juice, I thought Boomerang and New Jack were good. But I guess my personality and background and circle of influence was easy to relate to all the shyt in the Cali movies...

Boyz N The Hood is one of the greatest movies of all time and should be on anyone's list...

:dahell: never saw juice? bro get on that immediately. classic tupac performance right there

Not on the list but my go to movie for the 90s experience is Love Jones.

And that come from the afro-centric middle class black chicago vibe.

This is hard, all of those captured the 90s in some way but i gotta go with Kids. It wasnt from a black point of view but it got the vibe of the 90s down to a tee.
