I was in the 7th grade. We went to a nearby elementary school one day a week to tutor 1st graders. We were at the steps of the school when my own mom came out and told us the news (it was the early afternoon if I recall correctly).
Me: Hey mom, what you doin' here?(she was there for my little sister)
Mom: Guess what guys...OJ was found not guilty, he isn't going to jail

Um, more blacks are in college. More blacks own property. And the majority of blacks aren't living in poverty as you might traditionally think of it. Most blacks aren't in ghettos, though too many of them are. Most blacks, like most whites, are working and getting by -living check to check, even with their middle class jobs.
You got to have a more positive view of black America. We are making strides. Do you realize how horrifically bad things were for blacks in the 90s?

dude, more blacks are graduating from college. More blacks own property. Less blacks are dying in our streets. Less blacks are in prison. More blacks own businesses. The metrics don't agree with you, breh. I think much of what you term as "worse" is the very real hostility that has erupted towards blacks in the wake of Obama's presidency. We shouldn't mistake white America's inability to recognize the legitimacy of Obama's office as regression. In spite of their hatred towards the man, we are improving as a community and the numbers speak to that.

Um, yes, positive gains. Black college enrollment is higher. Black property ownership is up. Compared to the 90s, far less black men are dying in our streets. We are talking about the 90s are we not? I'm speaking on facts. And yes, I think much of these gloomy stats pushed by many black militants are propaganda that serves their agenda in much the same way racist propaganda helps white supremacists. I'm no blind. I'm optimistic.
