Dope neighborhood. One of my sisters went to school in NY in the late 90s and had an apartment near Flatbush and Bedford.

It was like a 24/7 hour party out there even in the winter

Darkside Facts. The first visual homicide I remember seeing in nyc was on the corner of Parkside and Ocean Ave. Back then the D train ran there local.

Was/is it a Haitian neighborhood?

Lefferr Gardens isn’t run by Haitians but Haitians are deep in the area. Jamaican and Trinis are slightly deeper.

Haitians run below Clarkson.

Yeah Flatbush can be hood still as well as East Flatbush.

I was in Flatbush recently (by the Church Ave Q stop) and the area East of there is definitely not gentrified yet. But the area West of there was always nice with all those mansions.

My friend who spent a decade in prison was shocked when he saw the white people walking around Lincoln rd and saw an organic grocery store that replaced the Associated on the Flatbush and Lincoln.

He was in prison since 06/07. In those areas Lefferr Gardens and Franklin Ave weren’t really hit hard by gentrification yet or it was at the very beginning stage

Ocean Hill before 2001 was literally a bunch of empty lots everywhere. Then that had that small amount of time when they closed down Prospect Plaza and had a few empty lots with empty high rise buildings.
