I always perceived it to be an artificial push being handled by a major label. I/e when a new artist drops with high profile features, production, and is suddenly being covered by every major rap outlet. Plant.

I think Travis Scott has a solid amount of fans in the 16-23 yr old range.

Actual fans not just trend hoppers streaming his single here or there.

Some people credit him as one of the main dudes behind Yeezus which will carry his name as long as people check out the Yeezus album.

This thread is about up-and-comers who the industry have given their stamp of approval to but have failed to achieve actual stardom.

For me, off the top of my head, these two immediately come to mind:

1. Travis $cott: does this nikka even have an album out? I don't know a single song of his. Is he even an artist or just a producer? Even Metro Boom, a producer, is more well-known than he is these days.
2. Justin Mohrle: He's being built up to be the next Eminem and white Drake; they even gave him a high profile spot on that SOC soundtrack but his career appears to be DOA.

Who are some other industry plants who embarrassingly flopped?
